why commission a painting?

commissioned art is a unique and personal investment. I love hearing your ideas and the little stories that go along with your desired piece and work to create something you can look at for many years with joy.

Because it is important that you are satisfied with your painting, I will send frequent correspondence through email with photos of my progress and will request your feedback on how we feel at that current stage. I will always give you my thoughts as the artist, but will do my best to work with your suggestions.

I offer a free email consultation where we can discuss your ideas, pricing, timeline, and materials. Please be as detailed as possible! Reference photos or Pinterest boards are also very helpful.

Size, Materials, and Timeline

You may choose your painting to be anywhere between 6x6inches - 16x20inches. I will make my own suggestions on what materials may suit your painting, but the ultimate decision will be yours.

My paintings are made with acrylics or gouache. While I am confident in my skills in both mediums, understand there will be slight differences in the ultimate results based on my painting styles and techniques in each medium.

My usual ask for all of my work is 5-8 weeks. However, depending on the size of your painting this time may vary. I want to give your painting the attention and detail it deserves. I work individually with each client and send updates throughout the process so that you may decide on any possible changes or discuss if we’re happy with the direction the paintings is going before we get too far into the next steps.

Once your painting is complete, I will varnish or seal the piece so that it may be properly protected. Once it is completely dry I package the painting thoroughly and ship it off to its new home.

Pricing

All commissions require a $50 deposit with the option to pay the discussed balance in full upfront.

The deposit is not an additional charge. It is taken from your balance. For example. If your commission is $200 and you pay the $50 deposit you will then owe $150.

Payment plans are available for weekly or biweekly payments. However, the full balance must be made before your painting is shipped/delivered to you.

The price list below is a general base rate. But keep in mind your painting cost depends on the amount of detail, medium, size, materials, shipping costs, etc… All details will be discussed before you put down your deposit.

There is a minimum rate of $50 for all paintings under 8x10.

6x6 - 8x10inch paintings - $50 - $100

9x12 - 12x16inch paintings - $100 - $200

16x20 - 30x40inch paintings - $200 - $1,000

(I do not typically work above 16x20 but am open to discussion based on your ideas)
